A steam locomotive and its carriages fill this woodblock print, which is probably the center panel of a triptych. Daikokuya Heikichi published it in 1872, and the artist signed it Ichiyūsai Kuniteru, recorded here as Kuniteru II. That year saw the opening of Japan's first railway, between Shimbashi in Tokyo and Yokohama, a novelty that drew many woodblock artists to the subject. The title panel that would have accompanied this section is missing, so the print survives as one part of a larger set.
