Numbers 1415 through 1417 on K Street Northwest mark the address shown in this glass negative, a downtown Washington block in the early 1920s. The National Photo Company, which documented the city's streets, buildings, and daily life for several decades, probably made it between 1921 and 1922, based on other negatives in the same range. The glass shows streaks and blemishes from the deterioration of its original coatings, a common condition for negatives of this age, and those marks are part of what makes it a record of the period.
