The title "Harding & Harvey" names two parties, but the caption attached to this glass negative is unverified, so the subject is best read with caution. The negative is dated January 4, 1923, and comes from the National Photo Company Collection, the work of a Washington, D.C., studio that recorded the capital's people, streets and buildings in the early twentieth century. Glass plates like this were the standard medium of that era, and the streaks and blemishes visible on the surface come from the natural deterioration of the original coatings. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the collection in 1947.
