The corner of 16th and Harney streets in Omaha, Nebraska, is the subject of this 1934 ink drawing, which shows the Orpheum theater, later known as the RKO Orpheum, sharing its frontage with the Omaha National Bank Company building. The sheet belongs to the Library of Congress's architectural and engineering drawings, a body of plans made to document American buildings. Pairing a movie house with an office block was a common approach to downtown development in the 1920s and 1930s, when owners combined entertainment and commerce under one roof. The drawing is a useful record of how the building was arranged in the mid-1930s.
