The Pan-American Exposition opened in Buffalo, New York, in May 1901 to showcase trade and ties across the Western Hemisphere. This Detroit Publishing Company view is catalogued under both exhibitions and amusement parks, reflecting the mix of pavilions and midway attractions that drew crowds to the grounds. The fair is also remembered for the assassination of President William McKinley at the Temple of Music in September, which cast a shadow over its final weeks.
