Two racing yachts, *Vaquero III* and *Streak*, appear in this June 16, 1896 view, with *Vaquero III* held at the center of the frame. The scene was recorded at the Atlantic Yacht Club, a New York sailing club where members raced and displayed their boats. The 8 by 10 inch glass negative is attributed to the Detroit Publishing Company, based on the style of its title and numbering rather than a credit line, and the firm is known for its wide body of American views from the 1890s into the 1920s. The image is a useful record of the sails and hulls of that period's racing fleet.
