The title gives this waterfall a height of 360 feet, a figure the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River does not reach, since it drops about 308 feet into the canyon below. The print is an albumen photograph from an 1883 tour of Yellowstone and northwestern Wyoming, and it survives in an album that also holds party portraits and copies of Associated Press dispatches sent while the travelers were on the road. Albumen prints were the standard way to reproduce scenic views in the 1880s, and this one shows how early visitors framed the falls for viewers who would never make the trip.
