The title "Siam group" points to a gathering of people from the Kingdom of Siam, the country now called Thailand, photographed on April 27, 1923. The Library of Congress catalogs it as a glass negative from the National Photo Company Collection, a Washington, D.C., studio that produced many portraits and news pictures in the early twentieth century. The title comes from the company's own notes and has not been independently verified, so the identities of the people shown are uncertain. The record also notes streaks and other blemishes from the natural deterioration of the original coating, which are visible traces of the negative's age.
