Few views of the White House from this period capture a snowy scene, and this glass negative from the National Photo Company records the executive mansion under a light winter covering on April 1, 1924, during Calvin Coolidge's presidency. The firm was a Washington business that produced large numbers of views of the capital's buildings and monuments for tourists and publications, so its negatives show how the city presented itself to visitors in the 1910s and 1920s. The title comes from data the company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, which has not been independently verified. The glass also shows streaks and blemishes from the gradual breakdown of its original coatings, which are worth noticing when looking at the fine detail of the building.
