The record places this glass negative at the White House, but its title names Theodore Roosevelt, who died in January 1919, more than five years before the April 1924 date supplied for it, so the subject's identity is unconfirmed. The negative belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, a Washington studio that documented government buildings, officials and visitors in the early twentieth century. The date comes from a related negative rather than the plate itself, and the blemishes and streaks noted in the record are the result of the original coating deteriorating over time.
