Despite the city name in its title, this picture has nothing to do with Boston, Massachusetts. The "Boston" was a twin-engine light bomber built by Douglas, known as the A-20 Havoc in U.S. service, and the Royal Air Force flew it over occupied Europe. The caption describes the aircraft roof-hopping, skimming rooftops at very low altitude to slip past defenses on its way to Dutch targets. British official photographs like this one, distributed by the U.S. Office of War Information, were released to show Allied air operations during the early years of the war, roughly 1941 to 1943. The phrase "brings back proof" suggests that the crews' photographs were meant to document their results.
