Kingston's street railway is the focus here, with the trolleys running through a busy city street around 1900. The record credits the photograph to A. Duperly & Son, a Kingston studio that produced many views of Jamaican towns and daily life for visitors and collectors. Street railways were a new and visible part of city life at the turn of the century, carrying residents and workers between the commercial center and surrounding neighborhoods. The catalog data is older and not fully verified, so the exact street and date remain uncertain, but the scene still shows how transit, pedestrians and street traffic shared the same roadway.
