The title names five Japanese men: Motono, Terauchi, Goto, Den, and Nakakoji. Terauchi was likely Terauchi Masatake, who served as Japan's prime minister from 1916 to 1918, so the group may have been a set of officials or envoys photographed during that period. The Bain News Service, the New York agency that made this glass negative, supplied news pictures of public figures in the 1910s. The record gives no date, and the names come from caption cards that have not been verified, so the identities and occasion are best treated as provisional.
