The name on this glass negative, Prince Nashimoto, refers to a member of the Japanese imperial family, though the title comes from caption cards that the Bain News Service recorded without full verification, and the record gives no date. Bain's agency supplied newspapers with news and personality photographs, many of them of visiting dignitaries, from the early 1900s through the 1920s. Its large store of glass negatives, usually small enough to print quickly for daily papers, preserves the faces and public occasions of that period. Viewers should treat the identification as a starting point for further research.
