This color lithograph shows a school design, labeled "École primaire" (French for primary school), from a set of architectural proposals by the French architect Rob Mallet-Stevens. It appeared as plate 11 in *A Modern City*, a London publication from Benn Brothers that the library dates to about 1922. The 1920s saw growing interest in schools built around light, air, and open space, and the drawing reflects the clean, geometric style of French modernism. The record gives only the date in brackets, so the exact year of publication is an estimate.
