The day after Christmas" was painted by Norman Rockwell as a cover for the December 1922 issue of *Farm and Fireside*, a rural family magazine that reached households across the country. Its title marks a particular moment, the quiet letdown once the gifts are opened and the holiday rush has passed, which was a theme Rockwell returned to often. By 1922 he was already an established illustrator, and his magazine covers were among the most widely seen images of American家庭 life. This color halftone reproduction preserves that cover art, though the catalog record itself is based on older, unverified caption information.
