A soda water apparatus, listed as exhibit number 2350, is the subject of this stereograph from the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876. The fair marked a century since the Declaration of Independence and drew millions of visitors to Fairmount Park to see machinery, manufactured goods and inventions from around the world. Stereograph cards like this one were sold as souvenirs, and viewed through a stereoscope, the pair of images gave a convincing sense of depth, letting people examine exhibit halls they might never visit. The caption data on this card is old and unverified, so the exact display location is worth checking against fair records.
