Glassware fills the shelves in this stereograph of the Mt. Washington Glassworks display at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, the 1876 fair that marked the nation's hundredth birthday in Fairmount Park. The Massachusetts firm used the exhibition to show its pressed and decorative glass to a huge audience of American and foreign visitors. Stereo cards like this one, sold in pairs and viewed through a stereoscope, were a popular way for people far from Philadelphia to tour the fair's exhibits from their parlors.
