Four men ride together in a Premier automobile, the make named in the title, which was built in Indianapolis during the early years of American car manufacturing. In the early twentieth century, motoring was still a novelty for most families, and cars like this one carried passengers over roads that were often unpaved and rough. Pictures of groups riding in early automobiles show how these cars were used for outings and social trips as much as for getting from place to place. The passengers' clothing and the car's exposed body are worth a close look, since both reflect the fashions and driving conditions of the period.
