A Greyhound coach, described on its caption card as the world's first motor coach sleeper, stands beside a Ford Tri-motor airliner in this scene. Ten men stand in front of the bus, and the card places the gathering in Chicago on October 26, 1929, though those details are unverified. That date fell two days after Black Thursday, the stock market drop that opened the crash, yet intercity bus and air travel were expanding fast. Together, the bus and the trimotor show how quickly road and air transport were becoming part of American travel.
