Sleighs dash across a snowy landscape, their horses running at full stride, capturing the speed and exhilaration of winter travel. The print was drawn by F.M. Lamb and issued by L. Prang & Co. of Boston, a firm that did much to popularize color lithography in America in the late nineteenth century, producing seasonal cards and prints for a growing middle-class market. Its copyright entry points to about 1894, when sleigh riding was a common way to get around and a popular winter pastime in northern towns.
