Few offices at the Library of Congress had a wider reach than the Card Division, which printed and distributed catalog cards to libraries across the country. This general view by Underwood & Underwood gives a broad look at the division's workspace. The caption card records no date, but the firm worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the Library began selling printed cards in 1901. The picture is a useful record of how the Library shared its cataloging work beyond its own reading rooms.
