This poster announces an open-air balloon and parachute show on the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris at 2 o'clock on Sunday, 28 June 1885, staged by MM. Thibault, Gourier, and W. de Fonvielle. The balloon in the upper left is labeled *Bolide*, and the parachute at center is labeled *Coelus*. Wilfrid de Fonvielle, a journalist and aeronaut who wrote widely on aerial navigation, was a well-known promoter of ballooning in France, and such exhibitions drew large crowds to the open spaces of the capital. The color lithograph was printed by the Affiches Américaines firm of Ch. Lévy, a shop that produced many of the bold advertising posters of the period.
