A front-facing bust portrait of Herbert Hoover on a 1924 stereo card shows him two years before he took the presidency, when he was serving as Secretary of Commerce, so the "President" in the title reflects his later office. Stereographs like this were printed as pairs of nearly identical photographs that produced a three-dimensional image when viewed through a stereoscope, a home entertainment that was widely popular in the early twentieth century. The catalog notes also list Horatio Greenough, a sculptor who died in 1852, a name that does not match the 1924 portrait and is best treated as an unresolved attribution.
