A 1936 silkscreen poster promoting National Letter Writing Week, held the first week of October, with the slogan "That letter will be appreciated." It was produced under the Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, which hired artists during the Depression to create public posters for government and community campaigns. The design celebrates the handwritten letter at a time when mail was a daily link between separated families and distant towns. The back of this print bears a February 1940 date stamp, a small reminder of how such posters were circulated and filed after their campaigns ended.
