Few performers defined the Paris music hall of the early twentieth century as fully as Mistinguett, and this large color lithograph, about 161 by 119 centimeters, presents her as the star she had become by 1913. The sheet was printed in Paris for the publisher Philippe G. Dreyfus and bears the name of the artist G.K. Benda. Posters like this one were a common way to market stage personalities at the time, when illustrated advertising covered the boulevards and kiosks of the city and turned performers into recognizable public images.
