Titled simply *Oil*, this photoprint documents a mural in the Post Office building in Amarillo, Texas, painted by Julius Woeltz. Murals like this one were commissioned under New Deal federal art programs in the 1930s, when the government paid artists to decorate public buildings with scenes of local work and industry. The title suggests the subject was the Texas Panhandle's petroleum industry, though the 1933 to 1941 date range comes from an unverified caption card.
