Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president, appears here with Mrs. Coolidge, team managers, an umpire, and players, which places the scene at the 1924 World Series. The date matches the seventh and deciding game between the Washington Senators and the New York Giants, played at Griffith Stadium in Washington, where the Senators won in 12 innings to take the first championship in their franchise's history. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio that recorded the city's public life for decades, made the glass negative, and its surface shows the streaks typical of aging emulsion.
