This silkscreen poster announces a production of Charles Lecocq's comic operetta *Giroflé-Girofla*, presented by the Cuyahoga County Opera Association with the Federal Music Project. Lecocq, a French composer, won wide fame in the early 1870s with *La fille de Madame Angot*, and his light, tuneful stage works stayed popular long after their premieres. The Federal Music Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, employed musicians and singers during the Depression and brought low-cost concerts and operas to American towns and cities, including the Cleveland area. A date stamped on the back, July 20, 1938, places the poster in the summer of that year.
