This color lithograph advertises *The Kid Auto Races at Venice*, a 1914 Keystone comedy shot at the seaside community of Venice, California, where the racing events it depicts took place. Chaplin's screen persona, the Tramp, appears in the film, and the poster presents him as the draw. The print was produced in Cincinnati by Hennegan & Co., one of the firms that turned out the large, vividly colored posters that promoted silent films to exhibitors and audiences in the 1910s. Its bold graphic style shows how early studios marketed a star's name and a comic premise together.
