Few tobacco premiums of the period were as large as the Turkey Red cabinets that the American Tobacco Company issued in 1911. Unlike the pocket-sized cards most collectors know, these were cabinet-size pieces printed in chromolithography and then colored by hand, so each one shows some individual finishing. The card is catalogued as T3 and is part of the Benjamin K. Edwards Collection of baseball cards at the Library of Congress. It shows how cigarette makers used the sport's stars to sell their products before baseball cards became a collecting hobby of their own.
