Issued in 1911 by the American Tobacco Company, this chromolithograph belongs to the T3 Turkey Red Cabinets series, a set of baseball cards packed with cigarettes. Printed in color and finished by hand, each card was made to be collected, and its stiff board helped protect the packs while promoting the brand. Cards like this one are now valued as early records of the game and of the lithographic methods that made affordable color illustration possible. The title "Turkey Red Cabinets (T3)" was devised by Library staff, so it reflects how the series is catalogued today.
