The most distinctive detail here is the poster on the front of the Orpheum theater in New Orleans, which lists a Monday, March 21. That date falls on a Monday in 1910, which fits the bracketed "[1910?]" estimate in the record. The Orpheum name belonged to a national vaudeville circuit, so theaters carrying it offered a touring bill of acts that might include singers, comedians, and acrobats. The Detroit Publishing Company, which made this 8 x 10 inch glass negative, sold views of American cities and landmarks in the early twentieth century, and its street scenes often show how such entertainment venues looked to ordinary passersby.
