A lithograph titled *Model*, the work is signed in pencil by Robert Riggs, an American artist born in 1896. The record gives no date, but a handwritten tracing on the caption card reads "Women" with a question mark after "Circus," so the subject may be a performer or a figure linked to the circus, though that is not confirmed. The print entered the Library of Congress through the Pennell Fund, which supported acquisitions of prints in the Prints and Photographs Division. Lithography in the early twentieth century let American artists work in fine, hand-drawn lines and made the print a close relative of the drawing.
