The Palace of Agriculture was one of the main exhibition halls at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, which opened in Seattle in 1909 on the grounds of the University of Washington. The fair was meant to showcase the Pacific Northwest's growth and its trade ties to Alaska, the Yukon, and Asia, and its farm and orchard displays were a major draw. The photograph was made by F.H. Nowell and carries the exposition's copyright. The caption card's date is not recorded, but the subject tags point to 1909, the year the fair ran.
