A woman cooking on a portable stove in the foreground sets this color halftone apart from other car-camping images. The scene, a family camped beside their automobile, was reproduced as the front cover of the April 1925 issue of *Motor Camper and Tourist*. By the mid-1920s, cheaper cars such as the Model T had made road trips common, and many families began carrying tents, bedding, and small stoves so they could cook and sleep away from hotels. The cover art shows how the magazine promoted that new outdoor leisure to its readers.
