A 1930 color poster printed in Paris sets this image apart, bringing the Havana cigar brand Larrañaga into French advertising through the work of designer Jean Carlu. Carlu was known for clean, bold graphic work that moved away from the ornate style of earlier decades, and the poster's large format, 76 by 51 centimeters, was built to catch the eye on a city street. Printed advertising like this helped carry Cuban cigars to European smokers. The details on the record come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified, so the exact commission and print run remain uncertain.
