Catalogued as a Salt Lake City photoprint issued under the name of L. Hollard and numbered 634, this view is one of several railroad scenes from Utah in the 1910s. Its caption-card terms point to a bridge, though the record gives no further detail about the structure, its location, or the train shown. By about 1914, Utah was a major railroad state, with transcontinental and regional lines crossing its mountains and deserts and meeting at Ogden and Salt Lake City. Commercial publishers sold views like this to travelers and to people who followed the growth of the railways.
