Two members of the National Woman's Party, Miss M.V. Roehrer and Miss S.L. Anderson, appear in this June 1925 glass negative from the National Photo Company. The party, led by Alice Paul, was pressing for the Equal Rights Amendment, which it had first introduced in Congress in 1923, and the photo captures women organizing for legal equality just a few years after the Nineteenth Amendment. Commercial studios like this one recorded Washington's political life, and the surface streaks and partly scratched caption on the glass are signs of the negative's age.
