Few pictures on this board look inside a neighborhood business, and this one shows the interior of Peoples Drug Store at 804 H Street NE in Washington, probably taken between 1920 and 1921. The National Photo Company, which documented the city's streets and shops through the 1910s and 1920s, made many views like this one. The glass negative came to the Library of Congress as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. Look closely and you will see streaks and blemishes, the result of natural deterioration in the original coatings rather than anything in the scene itself.
