Few stunts at Niagara drew as much attention as Mrs. Anna E. Taylor's ride over the falls. In October 1901, the 63-year-old schoolteacher went over the Horseshoe Falls inside a padded oak barrel and survived with only minor injuries, becoming one of the first people known to have done so and fulfilling a plan she had made for a little fame and money. This stereo card, published by Griffith & Griffith, shows rescuers helping her out of the barrel, a moment that was photographed and sold to visitors who viewed such cards through a stereoscope at home.
