A photoprint of Theodore Roosevelt Jr. with his fiancée, Miss Eleanor Alexander, stands apart from the many formal images of the Roosevelt family. It was made and copyrighted by Clinedinst, a Washington studio that was a popular source of society and official portraits in the early 1900s. The record dates the picture to about June 1910, but that date comes from an old caption card and has not been verified. Theodore Jr., the eldest son of the president, later served as governor of Puerto Rico and as a general in both world wars.
