A chromolithograph printed in color by the Boston firm Geo. H. Walker & Co., this sheet-music cover gathers George Washington, Independence Hall, the U.S. Capitol, and the Statue of Liberty under the title "American collection." Its copyright date of October 5, 1885, falls just before the statue's dedication in New York in 1886, so the image captures a moment when the new monument was fresh news. Covers like this one used bright patriotic art to sell songs, and they were often kept as parlor souvenirs.
