Printed in green ink, this 1918 French lithograph is titled *La paix de l'ennemi*, or "Peace on the enemy's terms," a phrase that sets the poster's message before the image is read. Victor Prouvé, a painter and printmaker linked to the Nancy school, signed it in 1918, the year the war was ending. Its subject headings point to the German emperor and to the peace settlement, placing the poster within wartime propaganda that warned the public against accepting terms dictated by Germany. The single-color lithography suited the quick, street-level reading that posters of the period were meant to receive.
