In this lithograph, a mother nurses her infant in a warm domestic interior, a scene taken from Lebasque's painting *Maternité* and reworked into a call for public support. Printed in 1920, the poster promoted the *Emprunt de la Paix*, or Peace Loan, a French government bond issue meant to help fund recovery after the First World War. Pairing a tender image of motherhood with a financial appeal was deliberate: the bonds were presented as an investment in the nation's future and in the children who would rebuild it. The poster shows how postwar France used fine-art imagery to ask ordinary citizens to lend money to the state.
