Produced by the army's cinematographic section, this 1918 color lithograph links the nation's military strength to moving pictures. At roughly 157 by 231 centimeters, the poster was built for large public walls, and its title, *The Military Power of France*, states its claim plainly. Army filming units of the First World War documented combat and daily life for newsreels and for audiences at home and abroad, so the poster belongs to the same effort to shape how the war was seen. It is signed by an artist recorded only as Smid LJ, and its listed subjects, French military personnel and battlefields, reflect the period's focus on the soldier and the front.
