Seen from the top of the Washington Monument on Mount Vernon Place, this bird's-eye lithograph looks south over Baltimore as it stood in 1880. A. Sachse & Co., a Baltimore firm known for panoramic city views, issued the sheet, and its notes say it was offered as a premium for the 30th year of the German-language newspaper *Baltimore Wecker*. The sweeping perspective shows dense rooftops, church spires and streets running toward the harbor in a city that was then a major Atlantic port.
