A tank bearing a swastika anchors this Republican poster, with its Spanish slogan calling for the defeat of Francisco Franco and the expulsion of the foreign invader. The swastika points to the German support that reached Franco's Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), including aircraft, armor, and the Condor Legion. Posters like this one were produced by propaganda committees on the Republican side to rally support against both the Nationalist rebels and their foreign backers. Its bold color lithography and blunt message show how the conflict was argued in the streets as well as on the battlefield.
