Few wartime posters tie the 1778 French alliance so directly to the arrival of American troops in 1917, but this lithograph does. Its caption pledges American gratitude to France and promises that French children will be treated as American children. Dated 1918 and signed by L. Jonas, with the artist listed as Paul Bruno, it was made to raise money for the American Ouvroir Funds, which supported relief work for French families. Its images of graves and children show how the appeal framed the war as a debt repaid through care for the next generation.
