Tige, a cat belonging to Grace Coolidge, wife of President Calvin Coolidge, went missing from the White House in March 1924. A guard at the Navy Department, Benjamin Fink, found him wandering around the Navy Building and returned him to the White House right away. Washington radio stations had broadcast news of the disappearance, so the cat's safe return drew public attention. This photograph by Herbert E. French is one of several in an album covering March and April 1924.
